Vacancy: NCE is established as one of the leading names in the Data Storage industry, providing solutions and support services on a wide range of data storage products. Due to expansion of the Field Service Department, a new position is available to assist in the Field Service Workshop. Your main priority will be to respond immediately to prepare parts for service calls and sending them to site or local engineers. This will include identifying parts, changing firmware on drives, building libraries and testing parts before despatch. Other duties will include: This role will require someone with strong commitment to their work willing attitude and be prepared to respond positively to ever changing priorities, which is the nature of the work within Field Service. Some contracts are on a 4 hour fix therefore working hours (usually lunchtimes) may change at short notice to enable you to cover any urgent requirements and you may be required to work outside normal business hours from time to time. You will be educated to A Level standard, B Tech or ONC/OND in computer or electronic related studies. Location: based in Calne, Wiltshire. This is a full time, permanent position. Due to NCE’s expansion into the Server maintenance market, we are looking for a Technical Support Engineer to provide training and support to Field Engineers, as well as direct telephone and on-site support for customers. This is a great opportunity to join an expanding company and be instrumental in the growth area of the Field Service Department. The successful candidate will have at least 5 years server break/fix experience. You will need experience with Solaris and AIX operating systems as well as knowledge of Netapp, SAN and switch products. Data Storage break/fix and storage virtualisation experience would also be a distinct advantage. You will also be required to evaluate new products for potential maintenance opportunities. You will be accustomed to working in a dynamic and fast moving environment and meeting contracted service level agreements. Strong communication and management skills will be necessary and the ability to work under pressure as an individual and as part of a team. This role will require someone with strong commitment to their work, a flexible and positive attitude and willingness to get the job done. You will sometimes be required to work outside normal business hours and to participate in the Duty Manager Out of Hours rota one week in four. You will hold an HND/HNC or equivalent qualification.
